New legal requirements will significantly impact many transport operators from 1 May 2014

The lax safety issues highlighted by media and the Transport Minister surrounding the fatal Cootes Transport crash in October last year has compounded the industry crackdown on safety requirements.  New legal requirements have been enacted by the Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal that apply to ALL operators in the road transport industry.

Failure to comply with these new legal requirements can result in heavy penalties from 1 May 2014.  Penalties include a fine of up to $10,200 per individual or $51,000 per company PER CONTRAVENTION.

If you are involved in the road transport industry in any way, give BBA Advisors a call to discuss how these legal requirements may affect you and what you will need to comply with.  Note that this is a complex matter that needs to be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and we may advise further legal consultation is necessary.
